Services
COUNSELLING, EDUCATION, COURT ADVOCATE PROGRAMMES Services to the community are provided through our Counseling, Education and Court Advocate Programmes. CRISIS INTERVENTION HOTLINE A Crisis Intervention Hotline pager (295-7273) that operates daily from 6pm to 6am, staffed by over 30 trained volunteers. EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE A 24 hour Emergency Response Service available upon request to provide immediate assistance and information to Sexual Assault Response Unit at the Hospital. INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELLING Individual and group Counseling at the Women's Resource Centre by qualified clinicians. ASSISTANCE FOR VICTIMS Assistance for victims in obtaining protection orders and preparing victims for court appearance. FAMILY REUNIFICATION PROGRAMME Each year several children enter foster care as a result of their parents inability to protect. In this programme parents are given an opportunity to address the issues that lead to ineffective or inappropriate parenting. LOBBYING Lobbying for changes in legislation and in criminal justice policies and procedures to increase prosecution of perpetrators and to improve topics. TRAINING Training police recuits and officers on sexual assault and domestic violence topics. EDUCATION Education seminars and workshops conducted for schools, businesses and community organizations. The Women's Resource Centre also maintains a resource library available to professionals and members of the public.
